We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Painter & Decorator to join our Inspired Works team and help maintain and enhance the beautiful environment our residents call home. We’re driven by a clear purpose: to build real communities that enhance the lives of our residents every single day. As a Painter & Decorator with Inspired Works, you'll help maintain our villages' high visual standards by preparing surfaces, applying decorative finishes, and completing painting and decorating work to an exceptional standard across both interior and exterior spaces. Working closely with the wider maintenance teams, you will help ensure the village remains a welcoming, well-presented, and comfortable place for residents, visitors, and colleagues. This role will also involve an element of travel between villages across the South region to support Painting & decorating needs where required.
Job Responsibility:
Surface Preparation: Preparing surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, and smoothing to ensure they are ready for decoration
Filling cracks, holes, and other imperfections to create a high-quality, even finish
Painting and Coating Applications: Applying paint, varnish, stains, and other decorative coatings to both interior and exterior surfaces
Using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to achieve consistent coverage and high-quality finishes, ensuring correct use of primers and undercoats
Wallpaper Installation: Measuring, cutting, and installing wallpaper according to design specifications and space requirements
Aligning patterns carefully to achieve a professional and visually appealing finish
Protective Coatings: Applying protective coatings to surfaces to help guard against moisture, corrosion, and general wear and tear
Quality Control: Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets the required standards and promptly addressing any imperfections
Environmental Considerations: Demonstrating awareness of environmentally friendly products and practices within painting and decorating
Ensuring the safe and correct disposal of hazardous materials
Working in a Residential Environment: Carrying out work across the village, both internally and externally, including within residents’ homes
Working respectfully and considerately within an occupied residential setting to minimise disruption and maintain a positive resident experience
Requirements:
Proven experience working as a Painter & Decorator, ideally with a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
Strong knowledge of painting and decorating techniques, materials, and best practices
Skilled in surface preparation and the application of a variety of finishes to achieve a high-quality result
NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent) would be desirable
Full UK driving licence
