Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled, detail-oriented Painter & Decorator to join our Inspired Works team and help maintain and enhance the beautiful environment our residents call home. We’re driven by a clear purpose: to build real communities that enhance the lives of our residents every single day. As a Painter & Decorator with Inspired Works, you'll help maintain our villages' high visual standards by preparing surfaces, applying decorative finishes, and completing painting and decorating work to an exceptional standard across both interior and exterior spaces. Working closely with the wider maintenance teams, you will help ensure the village remains a welcoming, well-presented, and comfortable place for residents, visitors, and colleagues. This role will also involve an element of travel between villages across the South region to support Painting & decorating needs where required. At Inspired Villages, we create vibrant communities where people can live independently, stay connected, and enjoy life to the fullest. By joining us, you’ll be part of a supportive, purpose-driven environment where your work makes a visible difference every day.

Job Responsibility:

  • Surface Preparation: Preparing surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, and smoothing to ensure they are ready for decoration
  • Filling cracks, holes, and other imperfections to create a high-quality, even finish
  • Painting and Coating Applications: Applying paint, varnish, stains, and other decorative coatings to both interior and exterior surfaces
  • Using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment to achieve consistent coverage and high-quality finishes, ensuring correct use of primers and undercoats
  • Wallpaper Installation: Measuring, cutting, and installing wallpaper according to design specifications and space requirements
  • Aligning patterns carefully to achieve a professional and visually appealing finish
  • Protective Coatings: Applying protective coatings to surfaces to help guard against moisture, corrosion, and general wear and tear
  • Quality Control: Inspecting completed work to ensure it meets the required standards and promptly addressing any imperfections
  • Environmental Considerations: Demonstrating awareness of environmentally friendly products and practices within painting and decorating
  • Ensuring the safe and correct disposal of hazardous materials
  • Working in a Residential Environment: Carrying out work across the village, both internally and externally, including within residents’ homes
  • Working respectfully and considerately within an occupied residential setting to minimise disruption and maintain a positive resident experience

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Painter & Decorator, ideally with a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of painting and decorating techniques, materials, and best practices
  • Skilled in surface preparation and the application of a variety of finishes to achieve a high-quality result
  • NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent) would be desirable
  • Full UK driving licence
What we offer:
  • 25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays
  • Big birthdays off (for milestone birthdays ending in 0)
  • Medicash Health Plan
  • Life Assurance at 4× your annual salary
  • 5% matched pension scheme
  • Retail discounts across a wide range of outlets
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Electric Car scheme
  • Access to SMART tech for everyday convenience
  • Work van and tools provided for role-related use
  • Health care plan
  • Enhanced annual leave entitlement of 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Giving something back – 3 additional days leave for charity or voluntary work per year
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Working in an incredible workspace, with a gym, social areas, and parking
