Painter & Decorator - (North East) Full time/Permanent. Covering our Orchard Care Homes portfolio. Are you a master of your trade with a passion for creating warm, welcoming, beautifully maintained environments? Orchard Care Homes is looking for an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our Planned Works Team, ensuring our homes look and feel their best for the residents who live in them. As a key member of our Estates & Facilities team, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating works across our homes. You’ll ensure all tasks are completed safely, professionally, and in line with agreed scopes and standards. This is a mobile role covering our full portfolio, requiring overnight stays of up to 5 consecutive weeks at times (with 2 weeks’ notice provided). Shorter stays may also be required on a 1–10 day basis depending on project needs.
Job Responsibility:
Acting as the point of contact for all decorating-related queries
Delivering high-standard decorating works to agreed scopes and timelines
Supporting rollout and ongoing updates of the Orchard P&D Scope
Liaising with Home Managers, residents, colleagues, and contractors
Maintaining a safe working environment and complying with H&S, COSHH, Fire Safety and Food Safety requirements
Reporting any issues outside your scope to the Home Manager and Estates team
Ensuring homes are kept in excellent decorative order to support a warm, homely feel
Identifying cost‑saving opportunities across materials and suppliers
Assisting the planned works team in creating scopes and adapting specifications
Requirements:
Master of trade with strong painting & decorating expertise
Highly organised with excellent time management
Strong administration skills and confidence using MS Outlook, Excel, and online FM platforms
Detail‑oriented and process-driven
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Professional, confident, warm and respectful personality
Self‑motivated with a positive, can‑do attitude
Team player with strong awareness of others
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
Understanding of Health & Safety, with willingness to seek guidance where required
Ability to travel and stay away from home as needed
Clean driving licence
