Sprays manufactured product with protective material using spray gun in accordance with customer’s specification.
Job Responsibility:
Industrial blasting
Painting preparation
Examines specification on work order to determine type of paint, mixture procedure, MIL requirement and inspection required
Loads and transports product to work area racks using hoist or lift truck
Cleans grease and dirt from product and tapes off areas of product that are not to be coated
Mixes appropriate quantities required and fills containers
Determines spray gun to be used
Puts on protective equipment such as respirator, scarf, helmet and coveralls
Painting operation
Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width or pattern of spray
Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply specified MIL of coating
Sprays product with protective material such as paint, enamel, glaze, primer or lacquer
Inspects product with wet film gage to ensure correct MIL
Conducts follow up inspection of dry product with MIL gage
Depending upon coating application, may allow for curing time and apply second and/or third coat
Upon completion of painting, reports job completion through Data Collection System and forwards work order to next workstation
Cleans spraying equipment with solvent and stores equipment
Requirements:
Ability to read shop print and use precision gages
High school education or equivalent preferred
Two to three years’ experience to include related preparatory work to become familiar with application technique, equipment, materials, and to attain quality and proficiency
