Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist - 22.5 Hours per week. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse to join our team providing care for children and young people with epilepsy, and support the lead Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist with their management, treatment and care. This role will utilise specialist clinical skills and encompass an education and support role for children and families with a diagnosis of epilepsy.The post holder will also liaise with and provide information, training and education to professionals in a range of hospital and community settings.
Job Responsibility:
Work alongside and support the Lead Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and supportive service to children and young people with epilepsy, their families and carers, in both hospital and community settings
Provide clinical guidance and expert knowledge in assessing, implementing and evaluating the needs of this patient group
Provide specialist clinical skills, teaching, education and support to enable families, carers and other professionals, to engage in managing the needs of children and young people to achieve the best quality life, health and wellbeing while living with a diagnosis of epilepsy
Requirements:
RN (Child) first level registration
Degree supplemented by training and/or combination of additional post registration/postgraduate specialist training, experience and/or short course, CPD or equivalent
Experience of working for minimum of 2 years within a service providing care for children and young people with epilepsy
Teaching/assessment qualification
Significant level of specialist knowledge and experience with children's epilepsy in an acute or community setting
Teaching and mentoring staff
Nice to have:
Specialist epilepsy qualification (or working towards)
British Paediatric Neurological Association (BPNA) PET training or equivalent
Non-Medical Prescriber
Experience working in the community
Caseload management
Attendance at case conferences, Child in Need meetings or Core Groups
