Job Responsibility

Integrate the nursing process and standards into daily practice, applying growth and development knowledge to interventions and providing care tailored to each patient's changing needs
Deliver efficient, safe patient care during the critical period following anesthesia and invasive procedures
Use the nursing process, delegate to and evaluate subordinate staff, and coordinate support services
Skilled performance in extreme life threatening emergencies
Prioritizing, coordinating, and meeting multiple patient needs and requests in a timely manner
Anticipating and preventing periods of extreme workload within a shift as evidenced by good time management and organizational skills
Detection and documentation of significant changes in a patient's condition
Assist patients to understand their illness and the effects of lifestyle including diet, activity, smoking and weight loss
Assess and evaluate a patient's readiness to learn, and consider factors affecting a patient's learning ability and knowledge level

At times, assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation and utilizing sterile technique as deemed appropriate
Responsible for providing total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation
Responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge.
