PACU Registered Nurse

• Provides continuity and quality nursing care for all patients, with continual evaluation of the patient's condition, providing patient safety, comfort, and privacy at all times
• May assist the physicians in the procedure rooms with various tasks, conscious sedation, and utilizing sterile techniques as deemed appropriate
• Will provide total comprehensive patient care to patients emerging from general anesthesia and/or sedation
• assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient and family in preparation for discharge
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients of any age in the PreOp and PACU department
• Provides care within nursing standards of practice and the policies of the Center
• Makes decisions regarding direct patient care needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members
• May have additional responsibilities as designated by the manager, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
• Active RN license in PA
• BLS and ACLS Required
• PALS preferred upon hire and required within one year of hiring
• One year experience preferred in a perioperative setting
• Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities
• Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written
