The Packer is responsible for working in an area producing product that is packed into trays/cartons for shipping. Prepares cartons/carton displays, manually packs/palletizes product, and completes final quality inspection of finished goods.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare cardboard cartons/trays for product packing by folding, taping, sorting, and labeling
Perform visual inspections of final product packaging for integrity
Fill cartons/displays based on packaging specs
Stack correct number of cartons/trays on pallets/skids using correct pattern
Clear loose product from turntable/area
discard defective items
Assist with product rework
Practice and adhere to safety and hygiene guidelines
Keep work area clean/adhere to 5S protocols
Store packaging room supplies
Keep work area aisles/exits clear
Remove trash
Perform sanitation tasks as directed
Prepare line for startup and assist with equipment changeovers
May operate tray making and/or stapling machines
Report issues to Machine Operators, Group Leader, or Supervisor
May perform other duties as required
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required
Ability to perform physical requirements (standing, walking, using hands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting) continuously or frequently
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs continuously
Ability to work in environment with moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes/airborne particles, caustic chemicals, and loud noise
