Our client, a top personal care manufacturing company is looking for Package Engineer in Oxford! The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience. Contract role: 12 months.
Job Responsibility:
Creates and validates 2D/3D models and technical drawings while managing detailed packaging specifications within internal systems
Engineers primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging solutions for the Hair category, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and cost standards
Leads functional, laboratory, and transit testing to confirm package integrity and develops mitigation plans for identified technical risks
Oversees in-plant line trials and production start-ups, providing assembly instructions and updating Bills of Material (BOM) as needed
Actively pursues cost-saving opportunities and researches emerging packaging trends to propose innovative solutions that align with business goals
Engage in cost-saving initiatives and supplier visits to continuously improve packaging knowledge and contribute to organizational efficiency
Acts as the technical lead in category meetings and coordinates with suppliers, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred, supported by at least 1–2 years of relevant industry experience
Requires deep technical knowledge of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging materials and decorating techniques
Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D modeling/printing is essential, with a preference for experience in SolidWorks, FEA, or Moldflow
Ability to perform mechanical tolerance and stress/strain analyses, evaluate material suitability, and design multivariable experimental test plans
Skilled in statistical data analysis and technical reporting, with a strong grasp of quality principles like GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and SPC
Proficiency in SAP and related reporting systems is required, alongside standard presentation, spreadsheet, and database software
