Owner operator Job at AFS Trans Co

Job Description

Provide transportation services by operating their own tractor. Be responsible for delivering goods and materials from one location to another as per the agreed-upon terms and conditions with AFS Transportation.

Job Responsibility

Operate your own commercial vehicle, ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods in accordance with company and industry regulations
Execute dispatched routes to meet delivery schedules and customer requirements
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure mechanical soundness and compliance with safety standards
Adhere to federal, provincial, and local regulations, including hours-of-service, weight limits, and licensing requirements
Complete and maintain accurate records and documentation, such as Electronic Logbooks bills of lading, and delivery receipts
Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining professional and courteous communication with dispatchers, customers, and other company personnel
Take responsibility for the proper securement and handling of cargo during loading, transit, and unloading as required
Collaborate with company personnel to ensure efficient coordination of operations, load assignments, and customer satisfaction
Maintain your truck and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and comply with safety and maintenance standards
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, following safe driving practices and promoting a safety-conscious culture

Requirements

Valid Class 1 license with Air Brakes Endorsement
Minimum of 3 years of trucking experience in Canada and 2 years mountain experience
Clean driving record with no serious traffic violations or accidents
Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial, and local regulations governing the trucking industry
Strong commitment to safety, following safe driving practices and promoting a safety-conscious work environment
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and company personnel
Ability to work independently, demonstrating self-motivation, reliability, and effective time management skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to adapt to changing situations
Professional and customer-focused approach, understanding the importance of representing the company positively
