Join a leading force in maintenance based in Rouse Hill! Are you a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with a passion for heavy industry? We are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Overhaul Technician to join a high-performing team dedicated to the safety and reliability of our city's rolling stock. Must be living in Australia with full working rights to apply for this role. In this pivotal role, you will perform critical heavy overhaul maintenance on rolling stock bogies and associated components. You will be responsible for ensuring all assets meet strict engineering standards while maintaining high safety and quality benchmarks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform critical heavy overhaul maintenance on rolling stock bogies and associated components
  • Ensure all assets meet strict engineering standards while maintaining high safety and quality benchmarks
  • Removal, installation, and cleaning of bogies and components
  • Replacing bearings and wheels using specialized machinery, and rebuilding gearboxes and traction motors
  • Comprehensive maintenance and overhaul of braking systems
  • Performing fault diagnosis and implementing corrective actions per engineering specs
  • Maintaining meticulous records of inspections, repairs, and parts usage

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Mechanical Fitter/Machinist)
  • At least 3 years of technical experience, specifically around rolling stock or heavy machinery
  • Deep understanding of mechanical systems, bearings, suspension, and braking components
  • Valid RIW Card and White Card
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and maintenance manuals
  • Must be living in Australia with full working rights

  • Review inspection and repair reports and observe progress of work on unplanned downtime and planned major overhauls to evaluate efficiency and work quality
  • Resource planning including project/work order materials availability, PPE, and work permits
  • Policy deployment, root cause, countermeasure analysis
  • Interaction and coordination with quality, production, and engineering to plan preventive maintenance programs/work orders and to schedule inspections and major overhauls
  • Troubleshoots systemic issues within the plant and effects maintainable countermeasures
