The Outside Rental Sales Representative is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all sales related activities within the assigned region covering customers and channels including rental, construction, municipal and other as assigned. This individual is responsible for achieving market penetration growth of specified Generac Product’s to existing customers and distribution while delivering on our brand promise every day. The Outside Sales Representative II promotes and communicates the features and benefits of the product offering through sales arguments, product demonstrations, and competitive comparisons in the market.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers to increase rental sales
Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate rental solutions
Prepare and present rental quotes, contracts, and proposals
Collaborate with operations and service teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction
Follow up on leads, inquiries, and rental opportunities in a timely manner
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, rental agreements, and sales activities
Achieve monthly and annual rental sales targets
Stay informed about industry trends, product offerings, and competitive landscape
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
college degree preferred
5+ years of sales experience, preferably in rental, equipment, or service-based industries
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce)
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Nice to have:
Experience in power generation or equipment rental industry (e.g., generators, HVAC, or industrial equipment)
Knowledge of towable generators, load requirements, and temporary power applications
Familiarity with electrical distribution equipment (e.g., cables, transformers, transfer switches)
Background in construction, utilities, or event power rental sales
Existing relationships with contractors, industrial clients, or event coordinators
Proven success in territory or account management for equipment rentals
Understanding of DOT compliance and logistics for equipment delivery and pickup
Experience using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) for sales pipeline management
Technical aptitude to explain generator sizing and setup to customers
Ability to read and interpret job site power requirements and one-line diagrams
