Job Description

Outside Sales Representative (Curbing) Location: Illinois (IL) (Remote) Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Curbing Sales Representative is responsible for driving specifications and sales of Polycor's granite curbing through proactive engagement with DOTs, municipalities, engineering firms, master planners and private developers. This role focuses on building product awareness, influencing project specifications, and ensuring Polycor stones are selected and maintained throughout the design and construction cycle. The rep acts as a trusted consultant — combining product expertise & design insight, skills to deliver results that align with Polycor's growth strategy and premium product position.

Job Responsibility

  • Promote Polycor's granite curbing to DOTs, municipalities, engineering firms, master planners, and private developers, and secure project specifications through design and bid phases
  • Conduct CEU presentations, lunch & learns, and engineering office visits, while providing samples, technical data, and design support
  • Track specifications using CRM and project intelligence tools and defend them during value engineering or substitution challenges
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts, including DOTs, municipalities, engineering firms, master planners, and private developers
  • Expand influence within engineering firms and specification networks
  • Participate in industry events, trade shows, and professional associations
  • Build strategic partnerships with agents, fabricators, and installers and identify growth opportunities within the assigned territory
  • Maintain strong knowledge of Polycor's granite curbing products, including quarry origins, finishes, and performance characteristics
  • Position natural stone curbing advantages against competitive solutions (precast and cast-in-place concrete curbing, slipform, etc.)
  • Provide technical guidance on fabrication, installation, and maintenance requirements
  • Collaborate closely with Estimating, Project Management, Operations, and technical teams to resolve project-specific challenges
  • Serve as the face of Polycor within the engineering and construction community
  • Support marketing initiatives, local events, and case study development
  • Ensure brand consistency across presentations, proposals, and events and share market feedback with internal teams
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales and specification objectives
  • Track and report on project pipelines, win/loss outcomes, and competitive intelligence
  • Manage travel, expenses, and customer engagement activities responsibly

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction, Architecture, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, specification management, construction or related roles
  • Knowledge of construction projects design, specification development and bid processes for materials
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written), French is an asset
  • Strong proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory. A valid driver's license is required.
