We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Outreach Youth Worker to support young people within a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school setting in Bristol. This is a highly impactful role focused on working with students who may struggle with behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in education. You will support them both within the school environment and through outreach work across the local community, helping them re-engage with learning and build positive futures. The provision offers a structured, nurturing and therapeutic approach, supporting students who have faced barriers in mainstream education. You will play a key role in building trust, improving confidence, and helping young people develop the skills they need to succeed.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
Build strong, consistent relationships to improve engagement, attendance and wellbeing
Act as a positive role model, promoting respect, resilience and independence
Support students in accessing education both in and out of the classroom
Support the delivery of individual behaviour and support plans
Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using calm, consistent approaches
Deliver targeted interventions focusing on emotional wellbeing, behaviour and life skills
Monitor and report on student progress and development
Deliver outreach support in alternative provisions, community settings, or mainstream schools
Travel regularly to provide consistent off-site mentoring and intervention
Support students with transitions, reintegration, and maintaining placements
Accompany young people on off-site activities and enrichment opportunities
Work closely with families, schools and external agencies to provide holistic support
Requirements:
Has experience working with young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour
Confident managing complex and challenging situations
Builds strong, professional relationships quickly
Proactive, adaptable and able to work independently
Passionate about supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes
Full UK driving licence is essential
Must be able to travel regularly for outreach work
