Job Description

Join our growing Retail team! This is a full time opportunity with limited weekend commitments and located at our Southlake campus in Lenexa, Kansas. This Pharmacy Technician position offers a dynamic mix of supporting operations within the pharmacy such as filling medications and supporting technician responsibilities within the call center. Team members will work at the Southlake campus in Lenexa, KS, in the call center answering patient calls along with offline prescription intake, entry, and processing to keep pharmacy workflows running smoothly along. As part of this position, the technician will also work in the production space filling and shipping prescription medications.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs ALL duties defined by standard work or other guidelines communicated by leadership under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Operates computer systems to accurately input medication orders and obtain necessary patient information
  • Assists in maintaining pharmacy inventory and record keeping in accordance with state and federal law. Reports medication errors on a continuous basis
  • Assures timely distribution of prescribed medications and stock items as needed
  • Utilizes effective listening and communication skills. Maintains supervisor awareness of personal and team activities affecting the department. Exhibits proactive problem solving to address issues impacting departmental services
  • Maintains a plan for personal development and completion of competency validation records
  • Participates in personal goal setting and ongoing development of team members
  • Shares expertise by participating in the orientation and education of pharmacy employees and students
  • If applicable, participation in the quality management program is expected with the goal of improving services by monitoring processes, analyzing data, implementing interventions to improve and evaluating the effectiveness of those interventions
  • Responsibilities may include working to establish and maintain long and short term goals for the Quality Management Program
  • monitoring and documenting Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) for progress in meeting QI goals
  • and providing guidance and education to staff on Quality Management priorities and projects. If applicable, as part of the program, the staff will uphold the quality of the Patient Management Program to include the development and reassessment of the program
  • Other duties may be assigned as required
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) successful initial completion of PTCB or equiv National Pharmacy Technician Certification examination in accordance with Board of Pharmacy registration requirements. upon Hire
  • Pharmacy Technician Registration - State Board of Pharmacy upon Hire
  • Technician must maintain certification on an ongoing basis and complete all continuing education requirements.

Nice to have

  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1 or more years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy offering comprehensive pharmacy services
