Job Description:

This role will suit people with the following skills and experience. Kew Gardens has one of the most diverse collections of living plants of any botanic garden in the world. Kew's Horticultural teams work hard to make sure that the displays continue to inspire a life long appreciation of plants and the natural world. The overall purpose of the role is to support Kew's horticulturalists to maintain the gardens to a high standard by helping with basic maintenance tasks. At Kew, we recognise that diversity enriches the work we do and welcome volunteer applications from individuals of all backgrounds and lived experiences. Our aim is to provide equal opportunities to all volunteers, ensuring they are treated fairly, without bias or prejudice, while fostering an environment where everyone can contribute meaningfully.

Job Responsibility:

  • Weeding, Edging, mulching, clearing, raking & pruning
  • Support Kew's horticulturalists to maintain the gardens to a high standard by helping with basic maintenance tasks

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of gardening and horticulture
  • Experience of contributing to a team
  • Flexible and willing to support where needed
  • Enjoys being outside in nature
  • Is available to volunteer on a regular basis for a minimum period of 12 months
  • To commit to volunteer at least one day per week, except for periods of holiday etc.
  • To attend required volunteer training
  • To be reliable and punctual
  • To learn about the work of Kew
  • To wear volunteer uniform if required for the role
  • To demonstrate Kew's Values and follow Kew Volunteer policies and procedures
