An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Otolaryngologist (ENT Surgeon) to join a well-established surgical service in New Zealand. This role is suited to an experienced ENT specialist who is keen to deliver high-quality patient care while contributing to service development and improving health outcomes within the community. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team and play a key role in shaping and expanding ENT services in the region.
Job Responsibility:
Provide comprehensive ENT services across outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings
Manage a wide range of otolaryngology conditions, including adult and paediatric ENT cases
Perform a variety of surgical procedures, including endoscopic sinus surgery, middle ear surgery, facial skin cancer surgery, and paediatric ENT procedures
Participate in elective and acute surgical services, including appropriate on-call responsibilities
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing staff, audiologists, and allied health professionals
Contribute to improving health equity and outcomes across diverse patient populations
Support education and supervision of junior doctors, surgical trainees, and medical students
Engage in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
Contribute to service development and expansion, including development of subspecialty interests aligned with service needs
Maintain strong links with tertiary centres for complex case management and referrals
Requirements:
Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
Completion of specialist training in Otolaryngology (ENT)
Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
Broad clinical experience in Otolaryngology, including both general and paediatric ENT
Experience performing a range of ENT surgical procedures independently
Ability to manage complex cases and work within a regional healthcare setting
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Strong surgical and clinical decision-making skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
