Job Description:

The Orthopedic Technician functions with demonstrated expertise in the delivery of direct Orthopedic care to children. Partners with healthcare team and assesses, prioritizes and provides care to clinic patient population. Meets specific requirements, goals, and competencies established within the Orthopedic clinic.

Job Responsibility:

Requirements:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
  • Course work in biology or physics preferred
  • Experience in a pediatric setting preferred
  • Knowledge of orthopedic surgery instruments, orthopedic casting techniques, application of braces, normally acquired through a minimum of one year related experience preferred
  • Must be able to transfer and ambulate patients, lift orthopedic devices, stand for long periods of time and lift objects up to 75 pounds
  • Frequently bends, lifts, twists, reaches, and squats
  • Occasionally push/pulls and does overhead work
  • Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with physicians, patients, parents and staff
  • Requires flexibility of time and duties in order to work in a fast paced environment
  • Familiarity with personal computer operations and functions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, providers, staff, and leadership
  • Good analytical ability to observe and communicate problems as they arise
  • Promotes courteous behavior as outlines in the department's guest relations' guidelines
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross within 90 Days Required
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants Preferred
  • ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician - National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists, Inc. Preferred

Nice to have:

  • Course work in biology or physics
  • Experience in a pediatric setting
  • One year related experience
  • CMA-Certified Medical Assistant
  • ORTHO-Orthopedic Technician certification
