Job Description:

The Australian Services Union (ASU) is looking for a full-time Organiser located in Adelaide. This position involves regional travel. We are a progressive, dynamic, and growing union. Our members campaign for social equity and economic justice, in workplaces and communities, to improve the lives of workers and create a fairer society.

Requirements:

  • Experience working for a union or equivalent organising role in another campaigning organisation is desirable
  • Knowledge of the Australian industrial scene and enterprise bargaining
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues / disputes that contain organising opportunities or the potential for collective action in the workplace to grow union members’ power
  • Understanding of how to build the principles of recruitment into all aspects of your work
  • Ability to identify potential workplace activists and delegates, and the skills to support them to grow a strong and democratic union in their workplace
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think and act independently while also working well within a collegiate team environment
  • Ability to work in accordance with planned strategies
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Good computer skills + digital organising experience
  • Readiness to participate in the union’s political and social justice agenda
  • Current SA Drivers’ licence or equivalent
