Position Overview: As an Organ Recovery Surgeon, you will be at the forefront of life-saving procedures, responsible for the surgical recovery of donor organs for transplantation and research. This role requires excellent surgical skills, leadership, and collaboration with a wide range of medical professionals to ensure the recovery of all suitable organs. You will be instrumental in managing the operative environment and directing the flow of activities, making a direct impact on the lives of countless individuals and families.
Job Responsibility:
Perform the surgical recovery of donor organs, ensuring the highest standards in organ recovery and research
Direct and manage the operative environment, collaborating with donor hospital staff and LifeShare teams
Assume on-call responsibilities for a minimum of 20 days per month, ready to recover organs at any time
Participate in the training of Organ Recovery Coordinators, Surgical Recovery Coordinators, and physicians, promoting best practices and advanced techniques
Foster strong relationships with transplant center surgeons, administrators, and medical professionals to enhance organ recovery rates
Support compliance with CMS, UNOS regulations, and AOPO standards, and act as an educational resource within the organization and the broader medical community
Requirements:
M.D. or D.O., board certified in general surgery with a current license
Minimum of three years in organ recovery and transplantation and donor medical management
In-depth knowledge of clinical, laboratory, and regulatory standards
Expertise in organ preservation technology
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to lead a team, coordinate resources, and achieve measurable results
