Job Description:

This role involves managing critical Oracle databases, performing migrations and upgrades, troubleshooting incidents, maintaining SLA compliance, scripting automation, and collaborating with multiple functional lines under HSBC's infrastructure. It requires expertise in Oracle and SQL-related technologies and strong team-working skills.

Job Responsibility:

Responsible for Oracle database design, build, and support.
Perform Oracle database migrations.
Troubleshoot and fix incidents.
Perform backup and restore tasks.
Build and implement solutions.
Plan capacity and disaster recovery.
Support 24/7 SLA compliance and HSBC policies.
Script automation and process optimization.
Monitor server and database health.
Conduct coding, enhancements, and performance tuning.
Assist development teams with queries or problems.

Requirements:

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong teamworking skills including working with remote teams.
Must be flexible in a dynamic and demanding business environment (high rate of change in business).
Demonstrate role model behaviours of 'can do' attitude, positive motivation.
Ability to work with development teams, both on a horizontal basis (front office to front office) as well as on a vertical basis (front to back office).
Ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills – both oral and written.
Efficient time management.
Be the go-to expert for Oracle and PL/SQL.
Participate in coding and enhancements.
Tune, script, and extract, transform, and load.
Experience using Oracle Packages.
SQL development, SQL analytics and tuning skills.

Nice to have:

Experience of contributing to the continuous improvement of the end-to-end design/build/support process.
Experience of working closely with other teams and liaising with developers to provide input to the IT requirements.
Understand those business parameters which could influence performance, e.g., data sizes, network bandwidth, scalability, etc.
