The Optimization Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership by identifying, developing and executing projects for the factory. Continuous improvement efforts will focus on making sustainable gains in reliability, quality, safety, cost, and delivery. Methods for achieving and sustaining improvements will be based Nestle Continuous Excellence and TPM fundamentals. Additionally, this position will coordinate with the client as well as various other groups inside and outside of the organization.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate and milestone schedule creation
Monitor design progress and deliverables are met in adherence to established project key components
Receive design details from design team with full understanding of project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution
Carry out appropriate financial analysis to validate/support proposals and gain support of key stakeholders
Direct and execute installation, construction, and commissioning of assigned projects
Drive continuous improvement and productivity savings projects. Utilize Nestle Continuous Excellence tools and methodologies (Goal Alignment, GSTD, DMAIC, Loss Tree Analysis, IPA, etc.) to drive sustainable operational improvements
Analyze given data and operating conditions
define the road map of improvements needed
implement changes and follow-up on results by involving key responsible people (i.e. sponsor, process owner, operator)
Responsible for identifying, chartering, and leading significant improvement initiatives - delivering the project results on time
Manage and maintain project milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as agreed upon in the project charter
Manage data collection and feedback process for projects
Monitors processes for compliance with quality and GMP requirements in accordance with FDA and OSHA regulations
Responsible driving operational improvement and cost savings projects
Provide self-direction of assigned projects from end to end with minimal supervision from department manager
Monitor work output from less senior engineers on the project team as assigned by the department manager
Provide technical support to Factory operations
Will support and participate in Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) as a part of their job responsibility within the Business Unit or assigned factory
Responsible for ensuring that one exhibits an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations and never implement any change, whether directly instructed to, or under your own initiative, without first questioning its impact in relation to product safety/quality, people safety and the environment
Ensure that the highest principles of ethical conduct on behalf of the community, consumer, company, and the engineering profession are adhered to and that all dealings are maintained within a competitive and fair environment and above reproach
Support and encourage clear and open communication between the team members and related stakeholders, e.g. site and market management, PTC, CO Engineering, CT Packaging and the SBU
Ensure that the procedures for protecting Nestlé's technological and proprietary know-how are in place and actively being implemented
Requirements:
University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 1+ years of related work experience
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
Ability to analyze data
Ability to using problem solving techniques to resolve issues and implement change
Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to complete major projects in a manufacturing environment
Ability to schedule resources effectively so continuous improvement is not sacrificed for day to day results
Project Management experience 1+ years, leading on projects less then $1 million. Leveraging PMI Project management institute stage gate procedures and tools. Basic knowledge in I & I pillar project methods. Able to manage Scope, Cost Schedule and risks on small and minor projects
