Job Description:

Deliver high quality pre-sessional English course to students who are aspiring to study in an English-speaking academic environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver high quality pre-sessional English course to students who are aspiring to study in an English-speaking academic environment
  • Deliver engaging and student-centred lessons
  • Use in-house materials effectively and adapt to suit students’ needs and abilities
  • Manage classes of 10-12 students effectively
  • Encourage autonomous learning and prepare students for university study
  • Deliver individual or small group tutorials
  • Use Zoom to deliver live classes
  • Use Moodle to access course materials and track students’ progress and engagement
  • Keep up-to-date attendance records
  • Comment on students’ progress and achievements
  • Mark assignments and provide feedback
  • Ensure all relevant class material is accessible to students
  • Be available for some asynchronous student support via email / MS Teams
  • Attend teaching induction (online)
  • Attend a weekly teachers’ meeting and scheduled CPD sessions
  • Communicate effectively with the head office management

Requirements:

  • Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
  • Proficient use of English in speaking and writing
  • Undergraduate degree in any discipline
  • CELTA, Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language with ELT subsidiary
  • Teaching experience across a variety of levels
  • Experience teaching PSE or EAP
  • Experience of establishing and maintaining effective academic administration systems and quality assurance procedures
  • Some previous experience with online delivery
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Experience of delivering lessons confidently and effectively
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • A sound knowledge of Microsoft office with good IT skills
  • Have a positive and proactive attitude to work
  • Demonstrate high levels of professionalism
  • A drive to work collaboratively with fun, likeminded people and contribute to team success
  • To be constantly aware of improving standards and adapt to them where possible

Nice to have:

  • DELTA or Trinity Dip. TESOL or MA TESOL
  • Experience of working in a university PSE setting or equivalent
  • Experience of using a variety of platforms for online delivery
  • Experience with language exams – systems and student preparation
  • Ability to supervise and motivate learners
  • Ability to function and communicate in a multicultural environment
