The Solution Epic Owner is a critical role within a program or organization, responsible for managing and delivering end-to-end solutions across various threads or workstreams. The role emphasizes high-level coordination, strategic alignment, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure that solution epics are effectively executed and aligned with organizational goals. This position requires expertise in systems engineering, program management, and agile methodologies.
Job Responsibility:
Own and manage solution epics within a designated thread or workstream, ensuring their successful execution from initiation to completion
Coordinate cross-functional efforts across organizational components to achieve end-to-end solutions
Define, prioritize, and oversee the workload associated with solution epics, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and objectives
Ensure solution epics align with the organization's strategic vision and long-term goals (e.g., 2035 vision)
Collaborate with thread architects and Government thread leads to assess whether initiatives fit within the strategic roadmap and adjust as necessary
Facilitate collaboration between program managers, engineers, risk managers, schedulers, and other stakeholders
Serve as the primary point of contact for solution epics, ensuring effective communication and coordination across teams
Utilize agile methodologies and tools like Atlassian Jira and Confluence to manage and track the progress of solution epics
Break down complex initiatives into manageable workstreams and ensure clear visibility into progress, risks, and dependencies
Monitor and report on the progress of solution epics, identifying and addressing any obstacles or challenges
Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback, align expectations, and address emerging needs
Provide high-level updates and presentations to leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment
Serve as a mentor and leader for junior team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing
Advocate for best practices in solution management, systems engineering, and cross-functional collaboration
Requirements:
Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI Clearance with Poly
BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5
Experience supporting or managing complex, cross-functional projects or initiatives in an agile environment
Working knowledge of SAFe agile methodology, agile planning and management concepts, and Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence) or similar tools for tracking and managing solution epics or workstreams
Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements gathering, risk management, and process optimization
Proven ability to coordinate across multiple teams and stakeholders to achieve organizational goals
Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to evolving priorities and challenges
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences
Nice to have:
Knowledge of intelligence community (IC) or Department of Defense (DoD) operations, processes, and systems
Proven experience managing teams in complex, multi-threaded environments
Certifications to include Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), the Project Management Institute's Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or various SAFe® (Scaled Agile Framework) certifications
Familiarity with solution and program epics in an IC or defense context
Experience coordinating between government and contractor teams
