The role involves preparing patients for eye assessments, operating basic ophthalmic diagnostic equipment, and ensuring accurate documentation of clinical findings. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating smooth patient flow within the ophthalmology unit, maintaining clinical hygiene standards, and ensuring readiness of instruments and equipment. They assist in conducting preliminary vision tests, such as visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement (under supervision), and basic screening procedures. Additionally, the Ophthalmology Assistant plays a key role in patient education by guiding individuals on eye care practices, medication usage, and post-procedure instructions.
