Job Responsibility:
Guide patients from the reception area to the examination room and conduct initial pre-testing, including measuring eye pressure and assessing visual acuity
Collect accurate medical and ocular histories to ensure thorough documentation
Perform refraction tests to determine eyeglass prescriptions, with training available if needed
Conduct preliminary eye examinations before the doctor sees the patient
Administer eye drops and explain procedures to patients as required
Assist the physician during minor office procedures and treatments
Perform specialized ophthalmic testing as prescribed by the doctor
Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure optimal functionality
Manage inventory by ordering supplies and tracking usage
Promote a smooth workflow by ensuring efficient patient transitions and supporting team collaboration
Requirements:
Previous experience in ophthalmic care is preferred, but willingness to learn is essential
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in a detail-oriented and friendly manner
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient management systems
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment
Familiarity with eye anatomy, refractive errors, and common ocular conditions is an advantage
Capacity to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced clinical setting
