Ophthalmic Technician

• Guide patients from the reception area to the examination room and conduct initial pre-testing, including measuring eye pressure and assessing visual acuity
• Collect accurate medical and ocular histories to ensure thorough documentation
• Perform refraction tests to determine eyeglass prescriptions, with training available if needed
• Conduct preliminary eye examinations before the doctor sees the patient
• Administer eye drops and explain procedures to patients as required
• Assist the physician during minor office procedures and treatments
• Perform specialized ophthalmic testing as prescribed by the doctor
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment to ensure optimal functionality
• Manage inventory by ordering supplies and tracking usage
• Promote a smooth workflow by ensuring efficient patient transitions and supporting team collaboration

• Previous experience in ophthalmic care is preferred, but willingness to learn is essential
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in a detail-oriented and friendly manner
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and patient management systems
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment
• Familiarity with eye anatomy, refractive errors, and common ocular conditions is an advantage
• Capacity to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced clinical setting
