Job Description:

HF Sinclair, Cheyenne Renewables, is seeking a motivated individual who will be responsible for working in assigned process unit role in and around the facility that include but are not limited to: Renewable Diesel Unit, Hydrogen Plants, Boiler, Wastewater Treatment Plant and Tank Farm. Employee is expected to follow established procedures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Observation of control panels, conducting unit walk-throughs, spill cleanup, routine repairs to small bore piping, painting, and assisting other crafts as needed
  • Assisting and performing unit start-ups and shut downs
  • Coordinating work with outside contractors
  • Assist and Support Turnaround Maintenance Events
  • Using hand tools and other specialty tools
  • Pulling samples of product, identifying problems in operation, preparing work orders, getting worksites ready for repairs and overseeing the repairs
  • Operators must be able to work in areas of high elevation, cramped quarters, confined spaces and in awkward bodily positions
  • Physical abilities important to all Operators in the performance of usual and customary job duties include but are not limited to
  • walking, climbing, lifting, carrying and frequent operation of utility and process valves. Operators must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Operators must be able to work independently with no direct supervision. Performs other work, such as lubricating equipment, cleanup and housekeeping
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Required to complete all required certifications and training to become competent in job duties under direct supervision while completing classroom and CBT training and expectations within a 90 day period
  • Basic ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and processes is essential
  • Basic reading and writing skills, strong analytical skills with ability to communicate effectively with others, both written and verbal communication
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft products and ability to apply knowledge is required
  • Must have a valid drivers license
  • Must complete drug test, physical exam, and background check prior to starting employment
  • Must have the ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential, valid state drivers license and proof of insurance required
  • Participation in ongoing random drug screening program is required

  • Assign responsibilities to Process Engineers to provide support to Operations and Maintenance in tasks required to improve operating unit performance and/or reliability, troubleshoot problems, and support or prepare for plant outages
  • Develop departmental expertise in areas of responsibilities (e.g. Ammonia, UAN, Nitric Acid, Water Treatment) and ensure that the group as a whole remains well rounded and able to continuously support the site in each technical area
  • Maintain continuous communication with the other Engineering Supervisors, Maintenance, and Operations to prioritize resources to ensure that highest priority operational issues and projects are being actively worked and completed in a timely manner
  • Ensures the process is operated in a safe and environmentally compliant manner and endeavors to enhance and protect the safety of plant employees
  • Provides a good knowledge and understanding of the operating principles and procedures for various process equipment and the effects of process parameters on production. Identifies sources of plant issues and recommends solutions to maintain safe operations
  • Supports operations personnel in areas requiring technical assistance
  • Monitors key operating parameters to identify trends and recommend changes. Examples include turbine and compressor efficiencies, cooling water surveys, catalyst surveys, DCS trends, and laboratory results
  • Provides a working knowledge of the maintenance activities in order to determine what can be done while on-stream and what must be deferred to a shutdown period
  • Provides detailed engineering support to monitor and progress the Management of Change process. Assists in training operations personnel on process changes
  • Coordination of all assigned Process Safety Management activities such as a) assisting in the development and organization of Process Safety Information, b) participating in Process Hazard Analyses and LOPA studies, c) participating in incident investigations, d) developing and maintaining Standard Operating Conditions and Limits, e) providing resolution to recommendations
