Job Responsibility

  • To carry out general maintenance works and operations, working with a Chargehand, undertaking a wide range of routine and cyclical works
  • To respond to emergencies and call outs during or out of hours on rotas as required and assist with winter maintenance activities as a second man or driver's mate
  • Includes apprentices who have fully completed training

  • CSCS card if client requirement
  • Minimum level of every day behaviour as set out in the company behaviours matrix
  • To have and be able to apply a wide range of generalist skills
  • To understand risk assessments and to assess according to safe systems of work
  • To be able to understand and carry out work as set out in a specification
  • Generally hold 12 months+ experience
  • Potential & interest in obtaining LGV licence
  • Undertaken training on: General health & safety awareness / Risk assessment awareness / Traffic Management / Use of PDA as required
  • Ability to use small plant and equipment
  • Ability to operate mini excavator
  • Team player, prepared to contribute and participate fully in team work
  • Prepared to work varying hours to meet the needs of the business
  • Willingness to apply skills to a variety of different highways jobs, with changing team members
  • Prepared to develop and undertake relevant training and qualifications
  • Be able to complete record sheets, paper or electronic
  • Be able to take responsibility for plant and equipment
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • To understand and be responsible for own safety, plus that those around them
  • To be available for emergency and/or winter call outs
