The Operations Specialist (Corporate Actions) is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events. This includes the identification, notification, and processing of voluntary and mandatory corporate actions such as dividends, mergers, stock splits, spin-offs, and tender offers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced financial services environment.
Job Responsibility:
Corporate Actions Processing: Assist in identifying, validating, and processing mandatory and voluntary corporate action events, ensuring accurate and timely completion across client accounts
Notification & Communication: Distribute corporate action notifications to internal stakeholders and clients
respond to inquiries regarding upcoming or in-progress events
Reconciliation: Support daily reconciliation of corporate action positions and entitlements against custodian and depository records to ensure data accuracy
Election Processing: Collect and submit client elections for voluntary corporate actions (e.g., rights offerings, tender offers, exchange offers) within required deadlines
Entitlement Calculations: Assist with calculating and verifying cash and stock entitlements resulting from corporate action events
Compliance & Controls: Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies
support audit and regulatory inquiries as needed
Issue Resolution: Identify and escalate discrepancies, missing elections, or processing errors in a timely manner to mitigate risk and financial exposure
Reporting: Prepare and maintain reports on corporate action events, processing status, and outstanding items for review by senior team members
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field or equivalent work experience
0–2 years of relevant experience in financial services
internship experience in operations, corporate actions, or securities processing is a plus
Basic understanding of financial markets and common types of securities (equities, fixed income, mutual funds)
Familiarity with the corporate actions lifecycle is a plus but not required
training will be provided
Nice to have:
Experience or coursework in securities operations, brokerage back-office, or financial services operations
Exposure to financial data platforms such as Bloomberg or Reuters
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel
experience with SQL or data tools is a bonus
Pursuit of or interest in professional certifications such as FINRA Series 99, CFA, or similar designations
