Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role of the Operations Shift Supervisor is to provide oversight and guidance to Operations and departmental Crewing team members whilst also facilitating the effective delivery of the company's flying programme, including freight, VIP, and bespoke trial support aircraft, whilst considering the safety, legal and commercial implications of the Operations team’s actions.
Job Responsibility:
Oversight and support of the Operations and Crewing functions, aiding as necessary
Deputise for the Operations Manager in times of absence
Provide continuous improvement suggestions to the Operations Manager
Writing and maintaining Operations SOPs, OSSIs, OCIs and CPIs
Monitoring and actioning Voyage Report feedback
Co-ordination and management of aircraft and Operations room documentation
Provide sound Flight Time Limitations (FTLs) advice to the operations and departmental Crewing functions, ensuring that all crews remain within regulatory limitations
Co-ordinate the expeditious dispatch of freight, VIP and trial support aircraft to minimise delays and client inconvenience
In case of an emergency, initiate/oversee the company response plan
Flight planning - filing flight plans, coordinating with civil and military ATC where required
Weather monitoring and Flight Watch of all company aircraft
A thorough understanding of the Crewing function, including how crew rosters are produced
Committed to the highest standards of Flight and Ramp Safety, client care and commercial awareness
Ensure that any policy breaches are reported to the Operations Manager swiftly
Coordinate and lead the recovery of aircraft breakdowns and other operational limitations that affect the flying programme
Provide initial and recurrent training to the Operations team, including Operations training days
Being responsible for the day and night running of the 2Excel flying programme, reporting directly to the Operations Manager if further escalation if required
Requirements:
Strong academic achievement, typically to GCSE standard
At least three years’ experience in an Operations or Crewing department
Sound knowledge of civilian aircrew/commercial aviation rules and regulations
Sound knowledge of flight planning, fleet management, crew planning and rostering systems
Must be able to demonstrate understanding of the issues within crewing, and deal with the sensitive balance of managing and controlling the resources of a group of staff whose performance is determined by Managers outside of their own department
Needs to be articulate and can build credible, trusting relationships both within and outside of their own department
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the Right to Work in the UK and hold a valid UK Driving Licence
Highly numerate and analytical with a proven record of managing change, complexity, and ambiguity
Self-starting, energetic, and motivated individual with a high level of interpersonal skills, capable of working under pressure to tight deadlines
Strong IT literacy and a capable user of Microsoft Office Suite with experience with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint
Works on own initiative, requiring minimal guidance from their Manager
Continually and pro-actively seeks new ways of working to improve overall business performance
An assertive and constructive problem-solving nature is essential
