Job Description

Our client, a major international Oil & Gas operator, is seeking an experienced Operations Geologist to support its offshore drilling and well operations in Suriname. The successful candidate will provide geological expertise throughout the well lifecycle, including planning, execution, real-time operational support, data acquisition, interpretation, and post-well evaluation. The role is critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations while maintaining the highest standards of HSE and data integrity. The Operations Geologist will work closely with Subsurface, Drilling & Wells, Asset, HSE, and service company teams, acting as a key interface between technical and operational disciplines.

Job Responsibility

  • Contribute to HSE performance across all subsurface and geological operations.
  • Monitor pore pressure, fracture pressure, temperature data, and geological hazards during drilling activities.
  • Participate in well planning, preparation, and operational readiness processes.
  • Provide real-time geological support and interpretation during drilling operations.
  • Ensure the quality, integrity, security, and archiving of all geological and well-related data.
  • Supervise and validate data acquisition activities, including: Mud Logging LWD (Logging While Drilling) MWD (Measurement While Drilling) Wireline Logging Coring and Formation Evaluation Programs Interpret geological, petrophysical, and operational data to support decision-making.
  • Participate in daily operational meetings, technical reviews, and multidisciplinary workshops.
  • Conduct post-well analysis, reporting, and lessons learned reviews.
  • Support well optimization initiatives, performance improvement, and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate effectively with service providers, contractors, and operational teams.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain effective relationships with local contractors, authorities, and industry stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Geology, Geosciences, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Master's Degree is considered an advantage
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience as an Operations Geologist, Drilling Geologist, Wellsite Geologist, or similar role.
  • Strong background supporting offshore drilling operations.
  • Experience in exploration, appraisal, and development wells.
  • Deepwater drilling experience is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience working with major international operators or leading service companies is an advantage.
