The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. The Ground Systems Support (GSS) organization is looking for an Industrial Engineer with a background in continuous improvement who is process minded and data driven. This individual will be responsible for leading continuous improvement efforts by determining data required for Ground Systems Support metrics, performing data analysis, driving data driven decisions, and monitoring improvements for sustainability through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Job Responsibility:
Interpret operational data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide periodic reports, identification of improvement areas and monitoring for sustainment of improvements across the organization
Direct cross-functional improvement teams and manage timelines and deliverables in a timely and organized manner
Define current conditions in processes, identify key drivers of inefficiency, and execute projects as required to enable successful transition to target condition
Supports and facilitates Lean workshops, kaizen events, and problem-solving activities to instill a culture of standardization and continuous improvement
Application of continuous improvement tools like 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis (Fishbone, 5 Whys, 8D, etc.)
Based on data analysis, provide inputs on data trends, recommended improvements, and opportunities to support initiatives for data integrity and normalization
Provide data to management to enable data-driven decisions for/on process improvements
Apply technical and working knowledge of business processes to multiple complex data sets to ensure data accuracy and consistency across organization
Training end-users on new reports and dashboards
Performing as an audit liaison, assisting in root cause analysis and corrective action assignments, oversight, and implementation/sustainment of these improvements
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution
at least 10 years of experience and/or an advanced degree
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills
Ability to coordinate multiple projects with multiple stakeholders
Experience developing training and teaching Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies
Previously held full-time Continuous Improvement or Industrial Engineering role
Experience leading Continuous Improvement projects and kaizens
Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness and success
Knowledge and experience in MS SharePoint, MS TEAMS and Power BI is highly desirable
Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.)
Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information
Strong excel skills (consolidating and manipulating large data sets)
Analytical thinking aiming to translate data into informative visuals
Experience in data preparation, visualization, and reporting
Understanding basic concepts around analytics, statistics
Capable of leading and performing complex assignments without direct management involvement
Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs
Must be able to work in tight confined space areas
Must be dependable and punctual
