Based at the BBC headquarters in London, you will join a highly skilled team of Broadcast Engineers, providing 24/7/365 frontline support for hundreds of TV, Radio & Music recording studios, edit suites, digital production systems, and a wide range of underpinning technologies and infrastructure. You will play a vital role in ensuring that broadcast equipment and facilities are maintained, safe and available to productions teams creating content for TV, Radio and Online platforms. The team supports multiple sites in London and numerous international offices, infrastructure, digital production systems, other core broadcast facilities and PC and Mac desktops across domestic and international offices.
Job Responsibility:
Delivering a high-quality support service on behalf of the BBC
Ensuring that equipment and systems used to create, capture, manipulate and distribute BBC content meet targets for availability, performance and safety
Supporting and enabling multi-media production and broadcast activities
Developing appropriate solutions to incidents, problems and management of safety, using new or existing/legacy technologies, through innovation, creativity and change
Requirements:
Proven engineering experience of supporting broadcast systems in live TV, Radio, or multimedia environments
Considerable experience of diagnosing and fixing technically complex problems across a variety of broadcast systems
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of audio and video broadcast systems, including both analogue and digital platforms
Awareness of all aspects of Health and Safety, particularly competence in electrical safety in broadcast environments, including inspection and testing of electrical equipment
The ability to clearly explain technical issues to a wide range of audiences using appropriate tools and techniques
Nice to have:
Good knowledge of networking, AoIP, Dante, MADI and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark)
Experience with robotic systems
Familiarity with remote access support using VPN, MSTSC, iLO and VMware
Working knowledge of DAW software used in production
Willingness to travel internationally if required
