We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our building surveying (BS) business in the London and South, which numbers 12 personnel and to be an integral part of the national leadership team. Our BS service offering tends to focus on regional and national programmes of work involving significant size and scale, working with both private and public sector clients. The role will focus on leading our people on these commissions, ensuring service excellence and being part of the national leadership team helping to grow the Building Surveying business as Mace seeks to continue to grow its client base.

Job Responsibility:

  • Preparing feasibility studies and recommendations
  • Scoping, estimating and presenting reports
  • Undertaking surveys, design and specification services
  • Respecting and help delivering services in accordance with best practice (and all legislation) in relation to asbestos, health and safety etc
  • Preparing a timely and effective post contract administration and final account agreement
  • Taking personal responsibility for service delivery
  • Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
  • Working with senior surveyors, associate directors and directors to construct bids for new work
  • Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the internal database
  • Assisting with new technology for data capture and reporting
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the consultancy business of Mace across all sectors

Requirements:

  • Fully contribute to the growth of the Building Surveying business nationally
  • Contributing to Mace’s objectives, both corporately and individually
  • Experience of leading and managing high performing teams within a building surveying environment
  • A track record of winning and delivering work clients in a consultancy environment
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering service excellence to clients in a consultancy environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good negotiating, influencing and communication skills to command professional respect at all levels is essential
  • Strong technical knowledge and competency in building surveying
  • Managing, projecting and reporting on commercial/resource performance and productivity and compliance with Mace operating systems
  • A degree in Building Surveying or equivalent
  • Professional memberships i.e. MRICS/RICS with at least 10 years post qualification experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in managing teams and client relationships
