Robert Half is partnering with a growing construction company seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Operations Specialist with prior construction industry experience. This role plays a key part in supporting daily operational workflows while serving as a primary point of contact for customers regarding order status, project updates, and service requests. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced construction environment, is detail-oriented, and has strong experience managing customer interactions, coordinating internal teams, and ensuring timely resolution of operational and service-related requests.
Job Responsibility:
Act as a key operations support resource for internal teams including sales, project management, procurement, and field operations
Serve as a primary customer contact for order status updates, service requests, and general inquiries via phone and email
Provide timely and accurate updates to customers regarding order tracking, delivery schedules, project timelines, and service issues
Investigate and resolve customer concerns related to orders, shipments, billing discrepancies, or project delays in coordination with internal departments
Monitor and manage workflow processes to ensure operational tasks are completed accurately and on time
Coordinate communication between customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, orders, service requests, and operational updates in CRM or ERP systems
Support order processing, purchase orders, change orders, and related documentation
Assist with scheduling deliveries, coordinating logistics, and tracking project milestones
Identify and escalate issues impacting customer satisfaction or operational timelines as needed
Contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience
Support reporting and data entry related to operational performance and customer service metrics
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in Operations, Customer Service, Sales Support, or Project Coordination within the construction industry (required)
Strong understanding of construction operations, order flow, and project lifecycle processes
Experience handling high-volume customer communication via phone and email in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to manage order status inquiries, service requests, and issue resolution from start to finish
Familiarity with construction terminology such as RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, and change orders preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Experience with CRM or ERP systems (Procore, Sage, or similar platforms a plus)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize competing demands
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset
High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
Nice to have:
Familiarity with construction terminology such as RFIs, submittals, purchase orders, and change orders
