Job Description

The operations Coordinator is responsible for managing and executing end-to-end logistics operations for import and export shipments, including time-sensitive event cargo. This role ensures operational milestones are met, shipments are delivered successfully, and all files are completed, invoiced, and closed in accordance with DHL Global Forwarding standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate daily import and export operations across air, ocean, and road freight
  • Manage end-to-end shipment processes from origin to destination
  • Book cargo capacity with airlines and other carriers
  • Support handling of general cargo and specialized event shipments
  • Ensure shipment files are completed and closed post-delivery
  • Update milestones in CargoWise or relevant systems
  • Manage cost accruals and vendor entries for invoicing
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and regulations
  • Work with internal teams and external partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to execute logistics operations
  • Support team coordination to meet deadlines
  • Monitor operations and identify potential delays
  • Escalate issues with recommended solutions
  • Drive efficiency and cost improvements
  • Support logistics planning and execution for events
  • Provide on-site or remote operational support
  • Travel domestically as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
  • Experienced in import/export operations with an emphasis on Air freight
  • Knowledge of ocean and multimodal transport processes
  • Experience with CargoWise or similar systems preferred
  • Dangerous Goods experience preferred
  • Strong carrier coordination experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure during peak periods

Nice to have

  • Experience with CargoWise or similar systems preferred
  • Dangerous Goods experience preferred

  • Proactively monitoring shipments, addressing delays with carriers, resolving delivery issues, and handling shipping claims
  • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs), analyzing data to identify cost trends, and implementing process improvements
  • Coordinating effectively with internal teams (operations, finance, sales) and external partners
  • Support in coordinating facility maintenance, ordering supplies and planning events
  • Communicate any shipment delays with customers as well as status on shipments
  • Assist with keeping the budgets on track and finding areas of improvement
  • Understand and value differences of individuals within the company, suppliers and customers
