Under general supervision, members of the Event Operations Staff are responsible for work in all aspects of the conversion process for assigned events to include set up, maintenance and breakdown of the exhibit hall, ballrooms, salons, meeting rooms, exterior lawn events, and other meeting spaces at the Wilmington Convention Center.
Job Responsibility:
Participate in all aspects of the Conversion process in preparation for events.
Assist with pre/post event set up and strike, day/evening.
Duties include setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chair placements, operable walls, barricades, staging, tables, other furnishings and equipment.
Utilize industrial equipment such as pallet jacks, material handling carts and dollies to transport items to and from storage areas to event locations.
Maintain cleanliness and order in the storage facility and other areas of the convention center.
Assists during scheduled events.
Step in and assist with Housekeeping Department tasks and duties related to events and projects upon request by the supervisor on duty.
Provides excellent customer service to a wide variety of customers, be they internal staff members or external clients and guests.
Maintains an active presence during all scheduled events, assists in requests or changes to event activities and equipment before, during and after events.
Report irregularities, discrepancies, damage, loss of property and safety concerns promptly to supervisor.
Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Able to lift, push, and move equipment and walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift 35lbs.
Able to operate basic warehouse equipment such as, and not limited to, pallet jacks, hand carts, floor carts, and chair carts.
Good organization skills
Able to follow directions and a willingness to learn
Good oral, written and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with like team members
Ability to work irregular hours, shifts that include days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
Ability to prioritize work, utilize good organizational skills, meet tight deadlines in an efficiently
Ability to work effectively under pressure within stringent schedules.
