Job Description

As an Operations Apprentice at AWE, you’ll take your first steps into a truly unique environment, one that brings together operations, manufacturing, science, engineering, and more. You will be key to providing manufacturing and assembly capabilities to the defence and security of the United Kingdom. You will experience hands-on production and process operations in a highly regulated and safety conscious working environment. Job Responsibility

  • Take your first steps into a truly unique environment, one that brings together operations, manufacturing, science, engineering, and more
  • Key to providing manufacturing and assembly capabilities to the defence and security of the United Kingdom
  • Experience hands-on production and process operations in a highly regulated and safety conscious working environment
  • Rotate through key operational areas including logistics, explosives, and assembly, learning how to follow critical processes, complete essential tasks, and deliver work to the highest standards
  • Might support lab analysis, help monitor environmental health, or contribute to admin that keeps everything moving
  • Explore the science behind our work – like pulsed power trials, where energy is stored and released in an instant
  • In our explosives area, you’ll learn how to safely conduct experiments and apply the right safety measures every step of the way

Requirements

  • Five GCSE’s at Grade 4/C or above to include Maths, English and Science
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2026, due to security clearance requirements
  • You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance
  • Attention to detail

  • Good communication skills
  • Awareness of health and safety
  • Fantastic time management skills
  • You’ll need medical test for general fitness and suitability to work with our unique materials
  • This includes having a BMI of under 35 which is a legal requirement for wearing respiratory protection

  • Implement and optimize automated email campaigns across the seller lifecycle from onboarding to retention, and monitor the efficiency of automated flows through KPIs (open rates, click rates, conversion rates)
  • Support seller offline and online events: manage event communications from save the date to registration campaigns, track attendance, and create post-event reports
  • Drive tooling and process improvements: optimize Jira workflows, explore AI opportunities, and support CRM software enhancements
  • Deliver recommendations for continuous improvement based on data-driven insights on seller email performance with analysis and business reporting using BigQuery, Tableau, or Google Sheets
  • Ensure brand consistency and adherence to Back Market's tone of voice across all seller communications and channels
  • Research best practices and put forward ideas to produce an engaging program of activities to energize our seller community
  • Proactively monitor relevant industry events, market trends, and competitor activities to identify strategic opportunities for visibility, partnerships, and positioning
