Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer is a key role responsible for the operational and technical support, diagnostics, planning, and optimization of photovoltaic power plants and energy storage systems (BESS). The primary objective of the role is to ensure maximum performance, reliability, and safety of the assets.

Job Responsibility:

  • Monitoring PV and BESS systems via SCADA/EMS and responding to alarms
  • Coordinating with the control center, technical teams, and external contractors
  • Managing BESS operational modes – charging, discharging, and grid support functions
  • Participating in planning and executing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities
  • Performing operational switching in installations with voltages up to and above 1000V, ensuring workplace safety, and granting work permits to technicians, maintenance teams, and external contractors
  • Conducting periodic technical inspections of key components: inverters, transformers, switchgear, communication equipment, and BESS subsystems according to the preventive maintenance plan
  • Responding promptly to any operational faults or emergencies
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical, communication, and mechanical issues
  • Measuring and testing electrical parameters – insulation, strings, BESS parameters, grounding, etc.
  • Maintaining and servicing battery systems: PCS, battery modules, BMS, HVAC, and fire protection systems
  • Preparing technical reports, checklists, protocols, and documentation of performed activities
  • Analyzing production data, KPIs, availability, and performance ratio (PR) indicators
  • Maintaining a database of defects, spare parts, and maintenance schedules
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Controlling the quality of maintenance and repair activities
  • Communicating with inverter, BESS, and SCADA manufacturers for warranty cases and technical support
  • Complying with all safety standards for work on electrical installations and battery systems with voltages up to and above 1000V, and following internal HSE procedures
  • Conducting necessary briefings (initial, daily, extraordinary, and on-site)
  • Granting work permits to technical teams and subcontractors
  • Issuing work orders according to regulations

Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering, power systems, and PV system principles
  • Excellent skills in working with drawings, single-line diagrams, and schematic diagrams of electrical equipment
  • Understanding of BESS operation and architecture – battery cells, PCS, EMS, cooling, and safety systems
  • Experience in O&M of PV or BESS systems is a strong advantage
  • Experience working with inverters, transformers, switchgear, and performing electrical measurements
  • Experience with SCADA, PLC, or EMS systems is an advantage
  • Working with monitoring systems
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and interpret technical reports
  • Skills in diagnostics and using measuring instruments (multimeter, megohmmeter, IV tester, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate with external partners
  • Ability to make independent decisions and take responsibility
  • Computer literacy, including AutoCAD
  • Availability to work in shifts – 24/7 (rotational shifts for BESS)
  • Willingness to participate in emergency or on-call activities
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
  • Minimum V-level electrical safety qualification for working in electrical installations up to 1000V
