The Operations Analytics / Process Improvement Intern will support data‑driven initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency and reduce variability across Atlas Energy’s sites. This role is ideal for students interested in operations analytics, process engineering, industrial engineering, or business optimization. Interns will work closely with site teams and corporate leadership to uncover insights, evaluate processes, and implement practical improvements.
Job Responsibility:
Perform cost-per-ton analyses to identify improvement opportunities and cost drivers
Compare shift-level performance to highlight operational differences and best practices
Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives, including data preparation and workshop participation
Gather and analyze data from site systems to support operational decision‑making
Work with cross‑functional teams to validate findings and help implement improvement recommendations
Build simple dashboards or reports to communicate insights clearly and consistently
Requirements:
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Proficiency in Excel required
Interest in operations, process improvement, and data visualization
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convert data into actionable insights
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across site and corporate environments
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is a plus
