We are currently recruiting for an Operational Support Officer to join our public sector client at Norwich Magistrates' Court. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within the justice system, supporting court users, legal professionals, and judicial staff while helping to ensure the smooth operation of court services. As an Operational Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the court. You will provide administrative and operational support across a range of functions, ensuring court users receive a professional and efficient service.
Job Responsibility
Providing support and guidance to court users, stakeholders, and members of the public through face-to-face interaction, telephone calls, and written correspondence
Assisting individuals with a range of needs by providing clear and accurate information and signposting them to appropriate services
Responding to enquiries using HMCTS guidance and service procedures
Supporting users through complaints processes and helping to resolve issues promptly where possible
Preparing documentation and completing administrative tasks to support court hearings and case progression
Managing case files, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with information security and data protection requirements
Processing correspondence, scanning, filing, and data entry tasks
Supporting diary management and administrative activities for judicial and operational teams where required
Assisting with court listing and scheduling activities to ensure effective use of court resources
Supporting jury service administration, including attendance management, deferrals, and expense processing
Assisting with enforcement and fine collection processes
Producing basic statistical and financial reports as required
Identifying operational risks and escalating issues to senior colleagues when necessary
Supporting health and safety processes within the court building
Assisting with facility checks, issue reporting, key management, and emergency procedures, including Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs)
Requirements
Previous administration and/or customer service experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally
Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems
The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively in a busy environment
A positive and professional approach to customer service
