Operational Support Officer - Public Sector (Covering Stoke Family Court, and North Staffordshire Justice Centre where required) ST1 3BP Pay: £12.86 per hour (rising to £13.25 after 12 weeks) Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week) however some flexibility may be required Contract: Temporary, ongoing until the end of October 2026 (with potential for extension) Fully onsite Are you an organised, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills? We're looking for an Operational Support Officer to join a busy Public Sector team based in the heart of Stoke. Please note travel to other hearing centres within the local area, including Newcastle-under-Lyme will be necessary where required. This is a fantastic opportunity to play an important role in supporting the operational delivery of a high-quality service, supporting the delivery of justice, both in and outside of court operations.
Job Responsibility:
Manage jury service tasks, including selection, deferral, reassignment, and attendance tracking, as well as processing related expenses and court fees
Assist with listing and scheduling, ensuring efficient use of judicial time, responsiveness to urgent matters, and adherence to listing policies
Provide dedicated judicial business support, such as diary coordination and administrative tasks, as locally required
Collate and organise court files and documentation
Assist in ensuring proceedings run efficiently
Record outcomes accurately and complete data entry tasks
Communicate effectively with court users and senior stakeholders
Handle case files, ensuring accurate data entry, secure information management, and compliance with retention and data loss protocols
General clerical work including completing standard forms, acknowledgements and receipting of court orders and warrants
