Job Description:

The attendant is a member of the Perioperative team assigned to work with the nurses and physicians to provide non-professional support within the Operating Room (OR) Suite, which includes the OR (Operating Room), PACU (Post Anaesthetic Care Unit) and DS (Day Surgery) environments.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist other members of the team in preparation and maintenance of the surgery environment before, during and following the surgical procedure
  • Maintain supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment
  • Transport products and patients to the OR
  • Assist in transferring and positioning of patients
  • Perform housekeeping duties for the Peri-op areas

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of Surgical terminology
  • Ability to follow written and verbal job instructions and meet strict timelines
  • Willingness to participate in Healthy Moves training and demonstrate proper lifting technique
  • Knowledge of isolation procedures including routine practices and additional precautions
  • Utilizes effective communication skills as a member of the Perioperative team
  • Ability to wear the required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work all shifts within the OR Suite (which includes DS, OR & PACU)
  • Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
  • Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
