Job Description

The Operating Engineer will have a strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Central Utility Plant Operations) and be multi-skilled in others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

Job Responsibility

  • Performs all assigned maintenance departmental service requests
  • Completes assigned elements of the preventative maintenance program
  • Completes assigned training to the operations staff
  • Demonstrates the proper use and care of tools and instruments
  • Ensure that work performed in client space is accomplished with a minimum of disruption
  • Perform maintenance, monitoring repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility
  • Record readings and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment
  • Maintenance of the equipment will include cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts
  • Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials
  • Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory
  • Perform additional job duties as requested

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in the building maintenance industry
  • Accredited trade school degree/certificate in HVAC, electrical or other industry related trade
  • Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and Outlook
  • Must be available for the on-call rotation responding to emergencies 24 hours a day during your portion of the rotation
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
