The Manager – Workday Training Lead & Developer is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of Workday training strategies and learning assets as part of large-scale Workday implementations and optimization engagements. This role combines Workday functional expertise, instructional design leadership, and client-facing consulting skills to ensure end-user, HR, and business readiness. The Manager serves as the primary owner of the Workday training workstream, accountable for training strategy, curriculum design, content development, and delivery oversight. This role partners closely with Workday Functional Leads, Organizational Change Management (OCM) leaders, and client stakeholders to deliver role-based, scenario-driven learning programs aligned to deployment milestones and adoption objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the Workday training workstream for medium to large-scale Workday implementations across HCM and related modules.
Define overall training strategy, approach, and roadmap aligned to program timelines, deployment waves, and change strategy.
Serve as the primary client-facing training lead, providing advisory guidance on training scope, resourcing, sequencing, and risks.
Manage training scope, timeline, dependencies, and resourcing in coordination with Program Management and OCM leadership.
Design and oversee development of Workday training curricula, including role-based learning paths, course catalogs, and module sequencing.
Lead the development of high-quality Workday training materials, including: Instructor-led training (ILT) and virtual ILT content
Self-paced eLearning (e.g., Articulate Rise 360 or equivalent)
Job aids, simulations, and performance support assets.
Ensure all training content is scenario-driven, business-process aligned, and reflects future-state Workday configuration.
Collaborate closely with Workday Functional Leads and SMEs to validate functional accuracy and real-world applicability.
Deliver or co-facilitate key Workday training sessions for HR, business, and leadership audiences as needed.
Coach and oversee trainers or training developers supporting the program to ensure consistency, quality, and messaging alignment.
Tailor training delivery approaches to audience needs, deployment phases (e.g., pilot, wave-based rollout), and adoption risks.
Establish quality standards for training assets and delivery readiness.
Lead content reviews, dry runs, and pilot sessions
incorporate feedback to continuously improve learning effectiveness.
Ensure training materials are deployment-ready prior to each release or cutover milestone.
Partner with OCM, Communications, and Deployment teams to ensure integrated adoption and readiness outcomes.
Guide and mentor junior consultants and instructional designers within the training workstream.
Contribute to Workday training methodologies, accelerators, and reusable assets within the P&O practice.
Requirements:
7+ years of experience in training, enablement, or learning development roles, with significant experience supporting Workday implementations.
Strong functional understanding of Workday HCM and related business processes.
Demonstrated experience leading training workstreams on enterprise HR system implementations.
Proven ability to translate complex Workday functionality into practical, role-based learning experiences.
Experience collaborating with Workday Functional Leads, SMEs, and client HR/business stakeholders.
Strong facilitation, client communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to have:
Prior consulting experience in a Big 4 or large systems integrator environment.
Background in instructional design, adult learning principles, or learning technology platforms.
Experience developing digital learning using tools such as Articulate Rise 360, Storyline, or similar platforms.
Experience integrating training efforts with Organizational Change Management strategies.
Workday certification(s) or prior Workday role specialization.
