Job Description

The University is accepting applications for part-time Online Course Facilitators within the Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Management for online programs on an ongoing and as-needed basis. When an opening is available, applications will be considered in the applicant pool. The online course facilitator position, supervised directly by the course Instructor of Record (IOR), supports the delivery of high enrolled online courses at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). At the direction of the IOR, the online course facilitator fosters regular and substantive interaction with assigned students enrolled in the course, providing timely, comprehensive, and meaningful assessment of course assignments as directed by the IOR, and consistent communication and collaboration with the IOR. Online Course Facilitators are utilized on an “as – needed” course-by-course basis (typically during a seven-week online course) and there is no guarantee of future employment.

  • Maintain consistent communication and collaboration with the Instructor of Record
  • Facilitate courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution
  • Eighteen graduate hours in a related field

  • Design and build a new three credit asynchronous online course titled: Global Workforce Strategy and Cross‑Cultural Leadership
  • Serve as an Online Course Developer within Brandeis Online’s graduate program
  • Design and build asynchronous, instructor-facilitated online courses aligned with institutional learning outcomes, accreditation standards, and workforce relevance
  • The development of an online asynchronous course entails the creation and/or selection of elements as outlined in the Brandeis Online Course Standards
  • Required components include a Brandeis-compliant syllabus, instructor-created materials informed by current industry knowledge, learning objects, and applied assignments and assessments aligned to course and program outcomes
  • The Developer is responsible for the substantive content and pedagogical strategies of the course and agrees to uphold Brandeis’s academic standards and online course development guidelines
  • Throughout the design process, the Developer will collaborate with Brandeis Online staff, adhere to technical requirements for LMS integration, and meet project milestones
