Job Description:

This is a two person team that works closely with surgeons and patients to schedule surgeries. The Surgical Coordinator manages multiple, different systems and calendars in a high pressure environment and ensures that schedules run smoothly. The Surgical Coordinator works closely with surgeons to understand their unique styles and preferences on timing.

Job Responsibility:

  • Facilitate accurate, efficient and courteous access to services for Surgeons: including scheduling of Surgeries in iQueue. Scheduling Pace, Pre-op, Post-op, and Clearance appointments
  • Coordinating special equipment in the OR
  • Scheduling from radiology queue in EMR for Imaging as well as coordinating with outside surgeons and assists for surgery
  • Communicating with referral sources, managing data entry by documenting on the Surgery worksheets and within SmartSets
  • Completing message request for surgeons, updating PMD with surgery information, handling the provider schedules by blocking clinic and updating all the surgeons calendars
  • Completing reschedules and cancellations for all surgeons by contacting the appropriate patients, canceling in iQueue, reschedule or cancel all coordinated appointments
  • Registering patients, verifying insurances, securing codes & authorizations, running estimates and advising patients of their financial responsibility, collecting co-insurance and deductibles for the pending surgery for both the hospital and the physician entities (HB & PB)

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3-5 Years Health Insurance Experience Required
  • 3-5 Years Healthcare Experience Required
  • 1-2 years Patient Access Services Experience Required
