Requirements

Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work is preferred, or a MA in counseling is required
One year experience in a hospital or related health care setting
Sound knowledge of community agencies, support programs and oncology related networking systems
Sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with other departments of the Medical Center, community services, providers, and Cancer Center personnel
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which are care is being provided

Assessing areas of psychosocial needs and developing an appropriate and timely plan using professional social work knowledge and practice skills

Requirements

Masters of Science in Social Work/ Masters of Social Work
Unrestricted Clinical Social Work license
Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed
At least 8 years of social work experience
2 years as a social work leader in oncology and/or case management
Certified as an Oncology Social Worker (OSW), Certified Advanced Palliative and Hospice Social Worker (APHSW-C), Certified Case Manager (CCM), or other clinically relevant Oncology or Palliative Care certifications
Experience in healthcare, particularly in oncology or palliative care
Knowledge and understanding of provider and health plan operations
Experience with video chatting, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records or comfort in learning new technology

Provides biopsychosocial assessment and intervention, crisis intervention, coordination of psychosocial services, and consultation, to reduce cancer-related distress and improve quality of life for patients, families, and caregivers across the trajectory of cancer care
