tiney is England's largest Ofsted-regulated Childminder Agency (CMA). We recruit, train, register, and support home-based childminders, and take on ongoing regulatory responsibility for the quality and safeguarding of every childminding setting in our network. We currently work with over 1,100 tiney-registered childminders across England, supporting more than 10,000 families with high-quality, flexible childcare. In 2024, we were named one of the UK & Ireland’s 100 fastest-growing startups, and shortlisted for the Global EdTech Prize. At tiney, we’re building a better childcare system. We help passionate, talented people open their own childminding businesses from home — giving families more access to high-quality, affordable care. Central to tiney’s experience is our app, which childminders use to run their business — from education tools and payments to messaging and family communication. Founded in 2018 by a team from Teach First and graze.com, we’ve raised £20m from top European VCs, and are already one of the UK’s top 5 childcare providers by childcare places. The Role of an Onboarding Advisor: Taking the step to become a childminder is a big decision. Once someone has signed on to join tiney, they begin a roughly 3 month onboarding journey that includes training, administrative tasks (such as DBS and household checks), first aid training, registration assessment call and in person visit from one of our field consultants and finally welcoming their first families through the door. As onboarding advisor you’re their coach, their cheerleader and their main point of contact, helping to motivate them, remove blockers and turn trainees into flourishing sustainable business owners. It’s a multi faceted role where you wear many hats and directly drive one of the most important numbers in the business: trading childminders. You’ll work in our UK based Onboarding team made up of 2 other onboarding advisors, led by our Onboarding Team Lead and supported by our Onboarding associates based in the Philippines who ensure all the necessary paperwork and checks are completed.
Job Responsibility
Manage a pipeline of trainees from signing on through to first trade, take full ownership of their progress and speed to trading, and maintain a healthy, balanced pipeline
Run business vision calls for every new trainee, setting a clear plan and timeline for them
Hit monthly and quarterly registration and trading targets and continuously improve conversion rates
Coach trainees through the emotional ups and downs of starting a business, building their confidence and commitment to register with clear, warm, proactive communication so they never feel lost or have to chase for an update, and guiding them through key milestones from learning and training to their in person registration visit
Keep progress moving by proactively chasing outstanding checks (Local Authority, references, DBS, first aid, GP and household-member), spotting blockers early, troubleshooting app and process issues with the right people, and managing disengaged-trainee comms through to fair re-engagement or withdrawal decisions
Proactively improve onboarding processes and documentation, spotting opportunities for automation and implementing them
