Job Description

As an OSS Driver, Commercial (On-Site Support Driver), you will support Kodiak’s live commercial autonomous trucking operations by responding to in-field events, assisting autonomous vehicles, and ensuring rapid recovery when issues arise. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining fleet uptime, safety, and reliability while operating in real-world, customer-facing environments. This role is highly hands-on and field-based. OSS Drivers work closely with the Command Center, Operations Leads, and Supervisors to execute rescues, perform vehicle movements, and support commercial freight operations on public highways and industrial sites.

Job Responsibility

  • Respond to live commercial operations by dispatching to autonomous trucks requiring on-site support or recovery
  • Safely operate Kodiak vehicles and support assets during rescue, recovery, staging, and repositioning activities
  • Perform driver-in and manual driving operations as directed to maintain safety, uptime, and mission continuity
  • Execute roadside and yard recovery procedures in accordance with safety protocols and SOPs
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of support vehicles and assisted trucks to ensure readiness
  • Maintain continuous rescue readiness by ensuring tools, vehicles, and equipment are mission-ready at all times
  • Communicate timely status updates, locations, and resolution progress to the Command Center and Operations leadership
  • Support customer-facing commercial operations by maintaining professionalism at all sites and interactions
  • Complete required documentation, checklists, and post-event reporting accurately and on time
  • Uphold all safety requirements, PPE standards, CDL regulations, and hours-of-service compliance

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 3+ years of recent, verifiable Class A driving experience
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain, doubles and triples endorsements
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, MVR review, DOT physical, and practical road test
  • Comfortable using basic computer systems
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrates a strong safety-first mindset and professionalism in all driving environments
  • Willing and able to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, as operational needs require
  • Role requires frequent sitting and driving
